Learn more about the founder
Dr. Max Weinberg, he/him, the founder of Belonging LLC, has spent 25 years in education, serving as a teacher, special educator, coach, and administrator. Max’s passion for Belonging arises from his experiences as a student and parent advocating for marginalized children.
For Max, this work is both personal and professional—ensuring all children are seen and understood in schools. As a transcracial adoptive parent, Max has researched and written about effective teaching practices and inclusive environments for adopted, looked after, and fostered children,
Max’s research on belonging among adopted children provides valuable insights for diverse student populations. Children who feel misunderstood often face undue pressure to conform, limiting their potential. They deserve advocates who not only help them and their families feel welcome but also fight for systemic change to create more inclusive schools.

Belonging’s mission is to empower members of school communities to cultivate inclusive and supportive communities. By understanding the influential systems at play, Dr. Weinberg at Belonging strives to identify and implement targeted shifts and improvements that best support all community members, particularly children who may be most vulnerable to continued harm.
Belonging aims to nurture school communities where students feel a profound sense of belonging and are motivated to thrive academically. Strengthened school belongingness can be achieved first through developing understanding and respectful relationships. This happens through dedicated coaching and support, advocacy within educational institutions, and strategic short-term and long-term planning.
